The City

SCROLL

On a ride home from the office, I chatted with my Lyft driver, who shared stories from his family, upbringing, and hometown in the Philippines. The conversation was a refreshing break from screen time.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been in San Francisco, CA. This city, she intoxicates with her beauty, madness, and charm. It’s been over a year since I left her, and I’m eager to set my sails to return.

Looking out of the window, I saw beautiful San Francisco. In a glimpse, I remembered everything I loved about city – and life, in general.

Sometimes, life feels a bit uncertain. Change is inevitable.

It’s during the uncertain times that I reflect back on Dr. Seuss, Oh! The Places You’ll Go!

In that book, there was never a promise that life would be predictable. Rather, it showed just how twisty and turny things can become when you put your best foot forward – whichever that may be.

Francisco continued to drive and share insights from his marriage of 19 years.

“What’s the secret?”

“Honesty.”

A bit punch-drunk after a month-long work sprint, I looked out the window and thought about the journey my career has taken. It’s been a wild ride. Yet, every step of the way has been divinely ordered – and educational.

Above it all, it struck me that I love what I do.

I really love it.

Sometimes life throws you curveballs. That’s ok. It also throws bouquets – when you least expect them.

Francisco shared his praises for his wife, shortly before dropping me off on the corner.

Home.

Another day in San Francisco.
