SCROLL

“I could tell you my adventures—beginning from this morning,” said Alice a little timidly: “but it’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.”

That’s one of my favorite quotes. In a lot of ways, I’m able to relate to it. Yesterday was my birthday. To be completely frank (or Aaron) with you, I thought my life would look much different than the way it is today. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this.

When I first started this website, one of the first images was of a young man running on the beach. I identified with the runner because it’s how I felt about my own life; running a journey that didn’t have a clear destination or finish line. I just knew I wanted to someday cross that finish line with my arms held high.

Sometimes you have to remind yourself that nobody can step in the ring for you. We’ve each got our fight to win/lose and nobody can take our place. Not showing up is not an option.

While I don’t know what this year is bringing me, I feel as if it’s an important one for me to go through. There’s a lot of opportunity on my plate.

My biggest fight is the one taking place in my mind.

Self-employment has a lot of perks. However, it also has a lot of downfalls. Time, for me, is a very difficult beast to tame. There are a lot of things I want to do and the willpower to do them has been temporarily stalled while I recuperate and get my mind right.

Today’s men face a difficult battle with the absence of good mentors. It’s as if you’re trying to piece together a map of where you want to go in life, while lacking a compass.

In a very disjointed closing, here’s my bucket list of goals for 27:

  • Heart – Be authentic and genuine in who I am as a person – loving myself and being me.
  • Others – Appreciate and spend quality time with friends/family
  • Projects/Self – re-launch FreeTheLove.org, SparkyTees
  • Toys – Motorcycle/Slingshot/Muscle car
  • Travel – Thailand/Indonesia
  • Hobbies – Painting, photography, fishing, hunting
  • Writing – Self-publish a book on Amazon before Dec. 31

At the end of the day, I’m happy and beyond blessed with the life I’ve been given. The cards I’ve been dealt have been given to me and I know they’re a winning hand.

“Of course the game is rigged. But if you don’t play…you can’t win.”
