Life is a very beautiful thing when we take the time to notice it. When I was 13, I went on a youth retreat where we took a night to stargaze. If you’ve never done this, I would highly suggest taking the time to do so as I seem to have failed to do for the past 13 years. There was something about looking in the sky and seeing light, millions of years old, that had traveled hundreds of millions of miles to make it to our eyes. Some of these stars may have already died and burnt out, with their light continuing to shine for millennia.
I remember a moment where I went to my favorite beach, El Matador State Park. I had about $XXX in my bank account but felt richer than I had ever felt in my life. Several years have passed since this time, and I’ve managed to do fairly well for myself within my business venture(s), but the appreciation and happiness of that moment was something that has stuck with me, permanently.
I’ve been fortunate enough to find genuine love in my life through my family, relationship, friendships, and even my business. I sincerely love every moment of my life, though I don’t always ‘like’ them at the moment.
“All we have in life is relationship, Aaron.” My therapist told me. She is absolutely right. When I think about the moments in my life where I feel most fulfilled, content, and happy, it doesn’t come from the moment where I’m purchasing new things, making money, or during my work. It comes from the moments where I am able to be fully present with the person/people I’m with, and not worry about circumstances existing outside of that moment. You know you’ve found good people in your life when you no longer want to check your cell phone every 30 seconds.
Life is beautiful. I have never been happier.
